Abstract

The article discusses the current understanding of the causes of dental hyperesthesia after odontopreparation for the fixed orthopedic constructions. The aim of the study. To analyse the current scientific data on the causes of dental hyperesthesia after odontopreparation for the fixed orthopedic constructions. Research methods. The study was conducted according to the following design: a literature search using the electronic databases PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science to find publications related to the subject of the study that contained the following search terms: «tooth hypersensitivity», «fixed dentures», «complications of fixed dentures», «tooth preparation». It has been established that the primary causes of dental hyperesthesia after odontopreparation for the fixed orthopedic constructions are mechanical, thermal, and chemical irritations that occur during the preparation process. Additionally, disruption of the protective layer of dentin plays a significant role, resulting in the opening of dentinal tubules and increased sensitivity of nerve endings. Furthermore, inadequate fixation material tightness and microinfiltration also contribute to the development of hyperesthesia. Additional factors may include the specific characteristics of the clinical preparation protocol and the individual characteristics of the patient. It is increasingly evident from contemporary research that dental hyperesthesia after odontopreparation for the fixed orthopedic constructions, is a multifaceted phenomenon with a multitude of causal factors. A comprehensive grasp of these mechanisms can facilitate the formulation of efficacious strategies for the prevention and treatment of such conditions, as well as the enhancement of clinical approaches to orthopaedic procedures.
