Abstract

The aim of the study. Comprehensive assessment of comorbidity and geriatric index of dental health in 63 elderly and senile persons. Research methods. Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI) and Combined Age-Charlson Comorbidity Index (CA-CCI) survey. According to the age classification of the World Health Organization, the patients were divided into three age groups: Group I consisted of 26 elderly people (60-75 years old), Group II – 24 people of senile age (75-90 years old) and Group III – 13 long-lived people (who reached 90 years old). Assessment of dental status was carried out using standard WHO criteria. The main research methods were: a survey with the definition of the geriatric index of dental health – Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI), clinical, dental. The combined age-Charlson comorbidity index (CA-CCI) was used to quantify the severity of comorbid chronic diseases. Assessment of chronic and general somatic diseases, social conditions of life was carried out. Scientific novelty. The number of comorbidities and, accordingly, CA-CCI index indicators increased with the age of the patients. All study groups are characterized by damage to the cardiovascular system (49.2% of patients), varying degrees of liver damage (in 34.9% of patients), chronic lung diseases (in 27.0% of patients), kidney disease (in 23, 8%), endocrine diseases (diabetes) – in 34.9%. Oncological diseases were diagnosed in 5 people (7.9% of those examined). Conclusion. Currently, a real problem in the provision of medical care to elderly patients is the lack of a collegial principle of diagnosis and treatment, as well as the insufficiency of normative documents regarding the substantiation of concomitant factors of comorbid conditions. The introduction into clinical practice of a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of elderly and senile patients with the involvement of specialists of various specialties will make it possible to achieve an effective long-term result and improve their quality of life.
