RETROSPECTIVE ANALYSIS IN DENTAL PATIENTS IN KHARKIV

Abstract

Purpose of the study. The study aims to investigate the somato-dental status of patients and their need for orthopedic dental care based on a retrospective analysis of outpatient charts from dental polyclinics in Kharkiv.Research methods. To achieve this goal, we conducted a retrospective analysis of 5 000 medical records of dental patients. These records contained information on the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with diseases of the maxillofacial system from 2022 to2024, obtained from the archival database of dentalpolyclinics in Kharkiv. Scientific novelty. The gender distribution of the examined sample of 5 000 patients who sought outpatient dental care during the studyperiod was as follows: 3 035 women (60,7%) and 1 965 men (39,3%). The primary concomitant somatic diseases characteristic of elderly patients (aged 60–75 years) were identified, with the following incidence rates per 1 000 people: сirculatory system diseases – 194,8; diseases of the nervous system and sense organs – 108; respiratory diseases – 150,7; diseases of the digestive organs – 120,8; diseases of the musculoskeletal system – 53,8; diseases of the genitourinary system – 158,7; combined general somatic pathology – 213,2. Conclusions. Based on the results of a retrospective analysis of 5 000 medical recordsof dental patients, the following findings were established:1. Nearly all patients of dental clinics in Kharkiv aged60 and older experience complete or partial tooth loss and require prosthetic treatment. 2. Prosthetic treatmentfor elderly patients has specific features, as it requires consideration of multiple systemic diseases that may affect the effectiveness of dental care.
