LABORATORY EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE DEVELOPED COMPLEX FOR THE PREVENTION OF DENTAL CARIES IN CHILDREN OF BUKOVYNA REGION

The high prevalence of dental caries in children, the varietyof caries risk factors and their mutual influence necessitate the development of differentiated disease preventionprograms. Literature data point to comprehensivemeasures that include oral hygiene, fluoride prophylaxis, remineralizing therapy, fissure sealing, and microfloracontrol. This issue is also relevant for children in Bukovyna. Purpose of the study. The aim of the study isto evaluate the effectiveness of the developed complex forthe prevention of dental caries in children of Bukovina in clinical settings by analyzing changes in local protective factors. Research methods. To evaluate the laboratoryeffectiveness of preventive measures, 215 children aged 6years from all administrative districts of the region and withdifferent intensity of caries were observed. Our proposedcomplex of treatment and prevention measures for children included 3 components: home care, exogenous andendogenous prevention. It was differentiated depending on the level of fluoride intake and the degree of intensity ofthe caries process in children. The state of local immunity of the oral cavity was determined by the levels of sIgA andlysozyme in the oral fluid. Scientific novelty. The levelof lysozyme in saliva during this period also improved after the introduction of the preventive complex by15,97% in the Vyzhnytsia district, 15,11% in the Dniester district, and 13,27% in the Chernivtsi district. The sIgA values decreased by 17,24% in Vyzhnytsia district, by 19,35% in Dniester district, and by 21,21% in Chernivtsidistrict. These indicators maintained a positive trendeven after 24 months, indicating a steady improvementin the remineralizing potential of enamel and protective functions of the oral cavity. Conclusions. Thus, the results of the study indicate positive changes in the mineralizing potential and an increase in local humoral immunity in children in the dynamics of two-year follow-up, whichemphasizes the effectiveness of the proposed preventionscheme.
