The purpose of the study: To evaluate the self-perception about the appearance of the teeth, to determine the awareness and attitude towards orthodontic treatment of dental students and interns. Research methods and techniques. A questionnaire was developed and prepared to assess self-perception about the appearance of teeth and to assess knowledge, awareness and attitudes towards orthodontic treatment. The questionnaire was distributed to senior dental students and dental interns using an online Google form consisting of 25 questions, which were tested for reliability and validity by pre-testing by panel experts. Each participant in this study signed an electronic informed consent form. 182 respondents answered with a completed form. The duration of the study is from September to December 2022. The results summarized in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet/google spreadsheet were exported to licensed software for the Windows operating system and the standard Statsoft software package. Scientific novelty. Most research on attitudes and perceptions of orthodontic treatment has been conducted among practicing dentists and orthodontists. Therefore, we decided to conduct a survey among senior students and medical interns to understand their awareness, attitudes, and perceptions regarding orthodontic treatment. Conclusions. This study assessed awareness of orthodontic treatment, self-perceptions of dental appearance, and attitudes toward orthodontic treatment in a group of senior dental students and interns. Dental students and interns have good knowledge of and positive attitudes toward orthodontic treatment, although there are slight gender differences.
