RETROSPECTIVE ANALYSIS OF THE INDICATORS OF DENTAL CARE FOR THE POPULATION OF THE DONETSK REGION

Abstract

Purpose of the study. Analysis of the indicators of dental care for the population of the Donetsk region with regard to tooth decay and its complications in health institutions of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Research methods. According to reports of institutions located in the territory under control of the Donetsk region, for 2018-2021, the indicators of the number of healed teeth with uncomplicated and complicated caries in the population of the region and separately in adults, as well as indicators of the proportion of their teeth healed to all dental visits. Scientific novelty. In 2018, 540,021 teeth аbout the uncomplicated caries were healed in the region, and in 2021 the number of teeth fell by 62.2 % to 204,233. Adults also had the highest number in 2018, with 398,333 teeth treated, and in 2021 the figure fell by 59.6 % to 161,119 teeth. For the population of the region, the share of the number of healed teeth with an uncomplicated caries to dental visits in 2018 was 42.5 %, in 2021 – 30.9%, for adults – 40.6 % and 30.3 %. Due to the complicated caries in the population of the region in 2018, 130,492 teeth were treated, in 2021 the indicator decreased by 50.2 % to 65,040 teeth. Among adults, in 2018, this figure was 102,631 teeth, and in 2021 it decreased by 50.1% to 51,182 teeth. The dynamics of indicators of the proportion of patients with complicated dental caries to dental visits of the population of the region showed an increase from 24.2 % in 2018 to 31.8 % in 2021, in adults – from 25.8 % to 31.8 %. Conclusions. In the whole population and in adults of the Donetsk region in 2018-2021, a significant annual reduction in the number of teeth healed due to uncomplicated and complicated caries was established, Reduction in the proportion of the number of healed teeth with uncomplicated caries for all dental visits and improvement in the rate of complicated caries.
